For those of you that don't remember or know that song.
Have you noticed that the grocery stores are not handing out free balloons any longer? Well, it is due to the helium shortage. Yes, as we are all worried about the price of gas and what alternative fuels we can use, but we are not giving a second thought to the helium shortage. Once of the biggest natural resources of helium is in Amarillo, Texas and it is estimated that will be depleted in a decade.
What is helium used for? How do we go through so much of it each year? Where do we get more?
Here is an interesting article I read.
I guess I will give it a second thought to buying balloons that are just going to get popped, swept away by the wind, or in one case blown out the front door by a gust of wind and stuck in a tree.
